Vicki Shuck

Vicki Shuck

Vicki Shuck’s art currently reflects two interests: her native American heritage and a desire to explore color with a less-realistic approach to her painting. Born and raised in the Merrill area, Vicki has lived in the high desert of Oregon most of her life. Her great-grandmother, Dora, was a member of the Hat Creek band of the Modoc tribe. Learning more about Dora’s life, along with a suggestion that Captain Jack may be a shirt-tail relative, led Vicki to follow a fresh direction in her work and has resulted in the paintings in this show. Vicki has worked in many genres and capacities in her long career as an artist, including the field of illustration. Her inclination to narrative art serves her well in these paintings. Portraying these people in the settings that they lived in and that she grew up in, has blessed her with a deep sense of the Klamath area being “home.” Vicki and her husband, artist Gary Vincent, live in Bend, Oregon. She is a member of the Klamath tribe
