Stephen Teater

Stephen Teater is an illustrator, fine artist and educator based in Bend, Oregon. Working across drawing, painting and illustration, his art combines careful observation with imagination, moving fluidly between the mythic and the everyday. Drawing from memory, dreams and lived experience, his work invites viewers into spaces that feel both personal and universal. Teater earned a Master of Fine Arts in Illustration from the Academy of Art University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Linfield University. His foundation in draftsmanship and visual storytelling continues to inform both his studio practice and his work as an educator. His paintings and drawings explore the space between observation and interpretation, where representation becomes a vehicle for emotional and imaginative expression. Thoughtful and evocative, Teater’s work encourages viewers to slow down, look closely and discover their own connections within the imagery.
