SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2008
Now that school is back in session (where did the summer go?) we are preparing for school tours. Teachers should begin contacting the museum soon to reserve a time to bring their class to the museum. Traditionally, the fourth and fifth grades visit, however, any group is encouraged to come. Art classes, writing classes, all classes could find some interesting aspect of the museum to become engaged in.
October 18, 2008, Saturday will be a very special day and event. Well-known sculptor, Joseph W. Macy will be here to be honored for his wonderful donation to the museum. A pre-view of his six bronze busts will begin at 5:00 p.m. A dinner will follow at 6:00 by reservation only for $25 per person. A dedication program will be held in the Exhibit Hall following dinner with remarks by Mr. Macy and co-Mistresses of Ceremony, Winifred Favell Hood and Ann Favell Silvestri, members of the Foundation Board of Directors. Mr. Macy will tell of how he became a sculptor and what events led to his creation of the six bronze busts of famous Native American Chiefs. An amazing story you won't want to miss.
The museum is on the agenda to host a group of travel writers who will be in Klamath Falls in October. We are on the pre and post tours following a conference in Medford for journalists who write about Food, International Food and Wine and interesting places. We're working with Travel Klamath to give these writers an experience to remember......and write about!
Travelers this summer have included rather unusual guests. Motorcycle groups, classic Model A car travelers, and numerous European and Australians visited who were enjoying a favorable currency rate. One European group told us that they came to Klamath Falls to visit the Favell Museum because it is listed in their travel publications as an "attraction not to be missed."
